Do you solve complex business challenges through inspiring design systems? Is workshopping design decisions with a strategist part of your workflow? Do you know how to push boundaries within extremely rigid guardrails? We are looking for an experienced Senior Designer at our Portland, Oregon agency. As a Senior Designer, you will play a critical role in shaping the visual direction across a variety of assignments, ensuring creative excellence across all touchpoints.

The right candidate will have a proven track record of driving experiences in a wide range of media from initial concept to final hand-off, and can communicate their vision clearly and with confidence. The right person must have a finger on the pulse of style, sport, culture, media and a host of other interests that inform their ideas and their designs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptualization and execution of high-quality design systems.

  • Translate brand strategy, business goals, cultural narratives, and consumer insights into compelling concepts.

  • Deeply understand & leverage how visual and narrative storytelling combine to create disruptive concepts, and work in lockstep with writers.

  • Proven ability to design for a variety of audiences, brands, and industries. 

  • Concept campaign-level experiences and see the work through from ideation to execution, confidently leading cross-functional project teams to the finish line.

  • Design strategically. Articulate your approach and “the why behind the design” both in how you speak about the work and in how you shape the deck.

  • Strong ability to present design concepts to stakeholders, sell them on the vision, and incorporate feedback effectively.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, design tools, and emerging technologies.

  • Develop and maintain design guidelines to ensure consistency across all touchpoints.

  • Understand that consumers' time is limited and platform constraints are always a concern, and you build your concepts accordingly.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience in graphic design, particularly in typography, photo selection, branding, layout, and digital design.

  • Senior-level experience at an agency or brand.

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and other creative tools.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects and creative problem-solving skills (and please clearly indicate your role in the overall project).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Reports to

The Senior Designer role reports directly to the Creative Director. 

Details

  • This is an in-office Portland, Oregon position with three days per week in office. A hybrid approach will make up the other two days per week, with additional days in office per week as needed or required by management. We’re committed to maintaining a professional level of flexibility for our team to do their best work.

  • The salary band for this role is $75,000-$90,000.
