Associate Art Director

Do you know how to push boundaries within extremely rigid guardrails? We are looking for an experienced Associate Art Director at our Portland, Oregon agency.

As an Associate Art Director, you will play a critical role in shaping the visual direction across a variety of assignments, ensuring creative excellence across all touchpoints. The right candidate will have a proven track record of driving experiences in a wide range of media from initial concept to final hand-off, and can communicate their vision clearly and with confidence. The right person must have a finger on the pulse of style, sport, culture, media and a host of other interests that inform their ideas and their designs. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple design projects and content productions, from inception to completion, in collaboration with the strategy, creative, content, and project management teams.

  • Translate brand strategy, business goals, cultural narratives, and consumer insights into compelling concepts, innovative design systems, and creative solutions that convert. 

  • Deeply understand and leverage how visual and narrative storytelling combine to create disruptive concepts, and work in lockstep with writers.

  • Cultivate long-term relationships by being a trusted thought partner to clients, regularly leading meetings, workshops, and collaborative sessions.

  • Facilitate cross functional collaboration with strategists, writers, and content creators to execute highly strategic, creative and technical solutions.

  • Spearhead and oversee internal initiatives that contribute to developing the internal team in learning, organization and culture.

  • Guide and mentor junior designers to provide team leadership and professional growth.

  • Support new business efforts by contributing to pitches and creative planning for current and prospective clients.

Qualifications

  • 8+ Years of design experience in brand, design and creative strategy.

  • Related creative agency or brand experience

  • Proven ability to lead projects as the primary creative lead; you’re a designer at the core and love to ideate and do the work required to bring concepts to life.

  • Experience in art directing a wide range of project and productions

  • Proficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to guide and mentor juniors

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and navigate ambiguity, and changing priorities with confidence

Reports To

The Associate Art Director role reports directly to the Creative Director. 

Details

  • This is an in-office Portland, Oregon position with three days per week in office. A hybrid approach will make up the other two days per week, with additional days in office per week as needed or required by management. We’re committed to maintaining a professional level of flexibility for our team to do their best work.

  • The salary band for this role is $90,000-$105,000.
